An excellent assortment of crops that improves the texture and nutrient levels of your soil for future crops. For best results over-winter to cut down and dig in during spring.

Grows these hardy plants over winter and not only will you have a wintering bed of greens to keep weeds from taking hold in the colder months, you’ll be investing in your soil too. Once dug into the soil these plants release nutrients and texture, as well as bio-fumigants from the mustard, which naturally keep rot and mould-producing diseases at bay.

This is a nitrogen-fixing mixture of Cereal Rye and Vetch, ideal for autumn planting and suitable for all soil types. It should be dug in during April or May, prior to flowering.

Will cover approximately 20 sqm.

How to Guide

Sow outdoors

September-October. Prepare the area for planting by digging, raking level, firming the area by walking over and then raking the surface level to a fine tilth. Scatter the seeds evenly over the area. Lightly rake the soil to cover the seeds and keep the area moist.

Grow on

Keep moist and allow plants to grow on during the autumn and winter months. Remove any obvious weeds from the area.

Dig in

In spring before flowering or before you plant out your spring crops, chop foliage down to a fine mulch. Thoroughly dig and turn over the soil burying all foliage and roots. Rake level to plant your crop.
